I’d got this post planned back in February but as always I’ve found myself getting side tracked by other blog post ideas so this one has taken a back burner. I wanted to simply share with you some of my current overall favourites – from journaling to hair stylers to hand cream. Be it a bit miscellaneous I know, but I hope you enjoy having a read!
Feather & Down Pillow Spray
This is my bedtime essential especially when I’m feeling awake and need to wind down for bed. The scent is simply stunning, a mixture of lavender, camomile and other essential oils. Who doesn’t feel in relaxation mode when you smell the scent of lavender? I was lucky to have this spray gifted to me through the Northern Blog Awards last September (I’m surprised I have any left!). I will definitely be repurchasing when it runs out. I use it quite sparingly, only 2 sprays per pillow so that’s probably how I’ve made it last so long.
Oliver Bonas Cat Dish
This was a very spur of the moment purchase. I always have a little browse in train station Oliver Bonas stores if I have a bit of time to kill before my train home. I’d seen this a few weeks, wait maybe even months before and regretted not buying it. I nipped in to have a look around and spotted it so I had to buy it. I use it for little trinkets – it’s currently got my day to day small earrings in it.
Big Metal London Earrings
I only discovered this brand on my latest trip to Manchester in a shop called Oklahoma. You can read more about the quirky gift shop on my blog post here – Staycation: 24 Hours in Manchester. Big Metal London create the most simple timeless jewellery pieces and are very reasonable in price. These ones only set me back a tenner. I love the intertwined hoops – very unusual but simple at the same time.
The Body Shop Shea Hand Cream
Body Shop Hand Creams are my current go to, I have the pumpkin spice and strawberry ones but this one definitely comes out on top. The others are more powerful in fragrance but the Shea one is subtle and has a warmth to it when applied to the skin. I don’t know about you but the wintery weather has been especially cruel to my hands this year so I’ve always got a hand cream or two in my bag.
Pop Boutique Vintage Beret
I was so utterly impressed with Pop Boutiques range of Beret’s. Honestly they had every colour and tone you could wish for! I went for a grey one that could become a staple pairing accessory in my wardrobe. I already own a bold red beret so I thought purchasing a monochromatic beret would be more versatile and therefore more wearable day to day. Shopping vintage items is definitely a good way to find some good quality items, this beret is 100% and only cost £8, if you were to buy that on the high street now brand new it would cost you considerably more.
I’ve always loved keeping a journal or a diary, when I remember and have time to. I decided to make my own small journal that could be accessible when I’ve got more time to spare. Something a bit more arty and expressive than a written diary. Wish has been a massive obsession of mine lately, seriously if you don’t have the app get it! Or maybe don’t if you don’t wanna loose a few hours of your life looking over the millions of products (it’s never ending). I started on Wish buying earrings, pins and patches but soon discovered they sell scrapbooking and journaling items too. I’ve bought a few packs of different stickers including ones that replicate ticket stubs, planets, astrology symbols, slogans, quotes and plain emoji stickers. They add something a bit extra to my journal, help me to create layering and context. I actually got this small notebook from Wilko’s too for under £2!
As I’ve already said in this post, I’m a sucker for a good hand cream. My favourite has to be the Shea one from The Body Shop, but contending in second place is the Velvety Hand Cream by Santuary Spa. I love Sanctuary Spa and this one of their great products. I picked both the Sanctuary Spa and the Mades Tones hand creams from TKMaxx, so it’s always worth having a little rummage round in their from time to time.
Lee Stafford’s Chopstick Curler
This has to be my favourite, biggest bargain purchase for a long time! These retail for just £20 and it’s the most fun I’ve had with my hair for a while. The first time I used them I became a poodle but after some tweaks and some hairspray I was sorted. This curling tool makes your hair super curly. I would suggest wrapping more hair around the wand to prevent yourself looking like you’ve had a wicked tight 80’s perm (unless you want that look of course). I have recommended this to so many people since I bought it just over a month ago. My favourite look is looser chopstick curlers with a classic beret, if you follow me on Instagram you’ll have seen that look. I’m here if you’d like to follow me – Little Owl Loves Instagram The thing I love the most about this product is it’s quick and easy, I wouldn’t hold your hair on the styler for over 10 seconds, 5-6 seconds is definitely sufficient. I also have flat lifeless hair so this gives me the volume and wave I’ve been longing for!
So what are you waiting for? Grab a set and have some fun.
The Sad Ghost Club
I am 100% in love with this company. There’s something about their sad ghostie illustrations that resonates with me so much. I bought these two A5 cards at £2 each with a view to framing them. I especially love the one where he’s wrapped up in a duvet, it reminds me of when I’m having a bad time with my mental health and Ed makes me all cosy and comfy in an effort to make me feel better.
So there we have it, some of my favourite favourites at the moment. Let me know if you have any of these items or know of these awesome products.
Thanks for reading as always you lovely lot,
